Your Calling

Your Calling

Are you thriving or just surviving? As a parent many days, alright I'll be honest every day I feel I am failing as a leader in my home, at best I am surviving to the next day. I want the best for my kids; I want them to grow to love Jesus and serve Him. I want each one of them to do more than I could ever imagine for the gospel, but tonight I am going to go home, probably have to put one kid in the corner (Micah) and one in their room on restriction (Natalie). If I am lucky, we may say a prayer at dinner (keep it fast though were hungry) and say a prayer at bedtime (This one feels even more rushed, I have officially had it with them all).

Do you feel like that? Like the hopes, you have for yourself, and those closest to you seems always to be diminished by the reality of your day? This goes for parents, students, everyone, we all want to thrive, but most days at best we are surviving.

So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me. (Colossians 1:28-29)

As I read this scripture I was challenged, I was reminded of my purpose, your purpose, the purpose of the Church. We are called to tell others about Christ, warning and teaching from the Scriptures, and then presenting them to God prefect in their relationship with Christ.

We probably all understand the first two actions but “presenting them to God perfect in their relationship with Christ”? What does that even mean? Are you keeping others accountable? Helping others to step in faith and be obedient to the gospel?

Tell | Teach | Disciple

As a parent are you telling your kids about Christ, warning, and teaching? As a friend? A co-worker? A son or daughter? I believe we (the majority of people) have been so scared to be labeled ‘bible thumpers’ that we have stopped being obedient. Colossians 1:28-29 says what we should be doing. Tell, teach, disciple.

What action are you struggling with? What one comes more naturally? Stop today and look at these three actions of obedience then look at what you can do to implement them into your current relationships. You are the church, spread the gospel!
