CHURCH BATTLES

Like the Civil War (and rumors of another 😉) the church is also imploding and fighting each other. Maybe you have experienced the arguments inside a church? Maybe you have been frustrated and angry at the church (or at least the people in the church). I have too.

My time in ministry has shown me a few things. The church battles are a real issue. Now historically the battles have been over music and volume, choirs or drums, suits or jeans, topical or verse by verse, and many more. I, like you, have my preferences concerning all of these things but why have we allowed these things to become the battles for which we are willing to fight and die? We are supposed to celebrate the differences and many parts that make up the whole right?

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. - 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

But then why is it that we (Christians) fight over these differences to the point we judge and condemn other brothers and sisters in Christ? Why are we going directly against these Scriptures? If we all share in ONE spirit shouldn't we celebrate the differences that all direct to the whole?

But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.” - 1 Corinthians 12:18-21

I am actively choosing to celebrate the differences that make up the whole. I am not willing to join in on the church battles. I will not accept the arguments about this church or that church because we all are a part of the global church. The bride of Christ. His plan and His sacrifice.

How can you participate in fighting for unity in the Church and not in division and battles? Comment below and let's keep the conversation going.
