It's Only A Flesh Wound

About 5 years ago I struggled with something called plantar fasciitis. The doctors explained that this is a common issue for people that wear high heels (picture that!), It is also an issue with runners (can we say that is why I got it?). Here is the definition:

Plantar fasciitis (say "PLAN-ter fash-ee-EYE-tus") is the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated (inflamed).

This was one of the worst pains in my life. My foot bothered me so much I began to compensate for the pain. What happened is I began to irritate the other foot, because it was working overtime. Becuase of that I got plantar fasciitis on both feet (ya I am pretty smart). So the next few weeks I could barely walk, I literally crawled across my living room to get around. After weeks of this, my family sat me down and said this needs to be dealt with, go to the doctor and get it sorted.

I am a firm believer that my body will fight all issues… The reason I probably got plantar fasciitis on both feet. Well, I went to the doctor and with physical therapy, my feet began to heal.

Too often in our lives, we become comfortable (or content) with our surroundings, attitudes, health, relationships, your outcomes. We find a way to deal with it as part of life.

Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him (Jesus). She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” (Matthew 9:20-22)

Check that out… This lady suffered for 12 years. How long have you suffered? I suffered for 3 weeks with plantar fasciitis and was willing to give up and expect that living for the rest of my life. Are you suffering from a health issue and need to take action? Are you suffering from a relationship and have come to the point of giving up on reconciliation? Have you come to the point where you believe you are not good enough to achieve the things you once dreamed of?

We must not accept our current situations because we have hope

Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment. (Matthew 9:22)

Your faith. Reaching out in faith knowing that our God is for us. He is leading us. It may take 12 years but His timing is perfect, and we must walk in faith. God has a plan for your life; He is leading you to great things. But it is up to you to step out in faith. Don’t become content with the status quo when Christ is calling you to something greater.

We also need to apply this to those around us. Sometimes we are tempted to give up on people that have not changed for a long time. But God can change what seems unchangeable. That person that you have written off God is just getting started with.

God can change what seems unchangeable

Today stop for a moment and look at your life. Look at your relationships, your surroundings, your self-esteem, your marriage, your career plans, your education. What seems to be stuck and has not improved for the last 11 years and 11 months may be ready for healing. Your 12 years of suffering may be coming to an end. Step in faith, reach out your hand and let God lead you. His ways are greater than yours; His thoughts are greater than yours. All things are possible through Christ!
